The PI Lab has new data requiring editors' attention...
How's that! I think I'll take it to the main site...

To do
- upload button icons (edit, talk...) —PerigGouanvic
Howzthat??? Much time and effort ... —P

Title
Feel free to change the title, but we can't have Philosophical investigation's lab, title is too long! ;-)

Logo, bigger
Yeah , I know, the logo is "pixelized"... we'll have to work on it... IF we want it larger. I do, personally, i like that. —P —PerigGouanvic
Note that I have put a larger space between the top of the page and the logo. Here is the logo without this added space:

Another edit button alternative
(normally, when it's saved, one can see it with a proper contrast, in the computer's file navigator)

2009-09-13 10:31:55 I like the green!
Thanks to Melanie, the Artist... — P
the 'simplified' edit tabs go well with it too, although what about the two-tone concept for them? The size here looks good too.
Secondly taking out the black boxes makes it less clear that they are buttons - I'm not unhappy about balck boxes there anyway, sor tof interesting visually. Rounded corners - well, yes, worht experimenting with that.
The logo? Now I am sceptical about making it much bigger - a bit bigger maybe, but not too dominant. Basically the site exists to discuss these scientificky issues, and the more we emphasise the logo, the less we let the pages 'talk'. SO I think it is a 'risk' to go much larger than at present... Agaib, we should certainly experiment. I'll upload a better version of the logo file - if that helps - now.
Third thing will be to match in the colours for all the links, text etc. But I like the way the page background (which is a grey with a touch of green actually) harmonises. For example, the login yellow looks AWFUL now.
So look, let's stick with this green bar, put a mid-size logo on and fiddle with(fine-tune) the edit icons again. —docmartin
I can't track down the green colour used above, this is just an approximate one. But wouldnt it be better to do each design element in tables and then we can compare versions easier, take it a bit more 'methodically' etc?
In style.css, it is here:
/* Page Title - this bit controls the dreaded blue box*/#title {
background-color:#708D23;
bollocks-bottom: 1px solid #AAAAAA;
- I just changed the color of the table above accordingly -
The logo: Yes, I can feel that. I'll revert to an ealier version of the logo (easier on the eyes as well...)
The buttons: that was my primary concern, that they don't look like buttons, and what really bothered me initially (but i'm repeating myself) was the very sharp corners — so, see you on the edit icons page for that.
2009-09-14 10:39:03 Beats me, these boxes (around images) just appeared and after half an hour trying to get rid of them (its NOT in the css or layout changes believe me!), I wonder if we need to delete the whole Wiki!
Or maybe go begging to Jabberwokky...!
ps this is TOO green now... bit sicky —docmartin
2009-09-14 10:44:21 At least I didn't bugger up the main wiki, eh! —docmartin
Solved!
I re-uploaded common.css - and the evil boxes are gone. But you can see the effect if curious by going back to the pages. —docmartin
2009-10-10 12:32:51 Not much happening, eh? Design dudes? —NormanNitram
2010-02-10 16:55:50 I'm back! —PerigGouanvic
2010-02-10 17:35:16 Hey! —PerigGouanvic
2010-02-10 17:35:49 (see ? that's what i was saying in 'new initiatives') —PerigGouanvic
2010-02-18 23:12:59 I gotta an idea for this... —docmartin
Er.. it didn't work! Complicated but I was wondering if we could access the 'recent changes info for HERE' while at PI proper...
Where's that jabberwokky when you need him....
2010-05-04 04:15:23 —— 2010-05-04 04:14:26 Who would like to have the "vanilla" colour as our background color for all the site?
here's what it would look like... very bright! but a similar, but less bright vanilla, would be interesting perhaps.
[[Image(vanilla.png, thumbnail)]] [[Image(vanilla2.png, thumbnail)]]
Try it out here, first! If it looks okay after a week or so, we could try it out there. But I'mm not keen as you know on these 'foundation-shaking' changes in general. I'd rather we worked with 'what we have' and concentrate on new additions. But I'm only the next Citizendium Editor in Chief - who cares what I think!NN
I just changed the css to obtain this color exactly (it's fdffdf). As I said, i'll try to find stg less flashy, easier on the eyes. —pg
still fiddling... we have the fdffdf in the small captions above. this color is less hard on eyes, but... too 'frankly' yellow. i kind of like it anyways... hmmm... —pg
2010-05-08 21:13:24 style and layout .css are now identitical to PI's.
things we could try and validate (or invalidate...):
font. Georgia (my preference)
page background color (i'd basically prefer to eliminate greys...)
eventually, the color of the green horizontal bar up there.
the thing is:most of the things i want to change are intended to make the site more "organic"... but there are good reasons to remain with greys and a character font that is more 'science-fascist'... i'm afraid that the two general views are not compatible...?
2010-05-20 20:17:27 Incompatible views will be EXTERMINATED!

No more green banner(?)
the previous ones (but with your previous comments in mind):

ratings? ideas?
2011-08-23 22:56:30 Go for it!
But you're right, it does look a bit greeny... —docmartin
In these three above ("new ones"), I hesitate between the first and the third. Is there one that you prefer? I'd say the first : beige banner, brown buttons (not the opposite)...... I'll go for the first one. — PG
